PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a mold for forming a honeycomb structure, capable of easily and surely manufacturing the mold superior in durability/wear resistance. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing the mold 1 for forming honeycomb structure which has a supply hole 12 for supplying a raw material, and a slit groove 13 arranged in a lattice state while communicating with the supply hole 12, for forming the raw material into a honeycomb shape, a process for forming slit groove 13 is implemented by forming the slit groove 13 on a slit groove forming surface 130 after applying hardening treatment onto the slit groove forming surface 130 of a mold stock 11 to form a hardening-treated film 2.
