PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wear indicator for indicating an amount of wear of a beat piece in a pavement breaker. SOLUTION: A hammer drill is provided with a housing, a tool holder, a motor 32, slidable piston 50 and ram 54, a drive mechanism for converting a rotary output of the motor 32 into a reciprocating motion of the piston 50 in the housing, a beat piece support structure, and the beat piece 58 having a nose 76 and slidable between a first forward position and a second rearward position. The hammer drill is provided with a slide bar body having a marker 404. Since the marker 404 is installed at a prescribed position along the length, a distance 360 between the marker 404 and a front end part 550 of the tool holder housing displays the amount of wear of the nose 76 when a slide bar is inserted into the tool holder and is engaged to the nose 76 to move the beat piece 58 to the second rearward position when the hammer drill is not in operation.
