PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing a wire from swinging capable of preventing the wire from being damaged, and restraining swing of the wire caused by projection of a projecting material as little as possible. SOLUTION: In this method, when a wire is polished by projecting a projecting material to the wire with a tension applied, having an approximate circular cross section and flexibility in a polishing chamber of a shot blast device equipped with conveying inlet and outlet of the wire, the swing of the wire is prevented. The wire is nipped by three or more approximate spherical supporting members elastically supported toward an approximate center of the tensed wire, constituted rotatably in an arbitrary direction, and having a diameter larger than that of the wire and hardness almost identical to or harder than that of the wire.
