An apparatus for restricting an engagement of a shift lever to a reverse stage of a manual transmission for a vehicle is provided to suppress an erroneous operation by forming an integrated structure of a hanging section and a forward stage finger. An apparatus for restricting an engagement of a shift lever to a reverse stage of a manual transmission for a vehicle includes a shift lever, a forward stage finger(40), a hanging section(42), and a detent pin(60). The shift lever is operated by a driver. The forward stage finger is connected through a shifting cable to the shift lever. The hanging section is coupled with one end of the forward stage finger in order to restrict a switching operation of the shift lever to the reverse stage. The detent pin comes in contact with one end of the forward finger in order to be selectively connected to the hanging section.
