<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and its power control method, capable of high-performance operations by appropriately supplying power, depending on the optional device states. <P>SOLUTION: This is an image forming device for attaching and detaching optional devices and has a power supply, incorporating an active filter circuit to improve the power factor. At low-load operation, the device stops the switching of the active filter circuit, to detect the input commercial power supply voltage supplied to the power supply from the secondary side, and determines the maximum apparent power from the detected result to change the control sequence based on it. Furthermore, the device checks the configuration of the connected optional devices, based on this configuration and controls the power in the image forming device to the extent of not exceeding the determined maximum apparent power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
