PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gateway device which reduces burden of setting. SOLUTION: The gateway device is connected to: an external gateway device connected to equipment to be accessed through a first local network; a mediation server mediating establishment of communication through a global network; and an operation terminal to access the equipment through a second local network. The gateway device includes: an external information request section 221 which transmits a first message making a request to acquire equipment information regarding the equipment to the mediation server; an external information receiver 222 which receives a second message including the equipment information from the mediation serve; and a generating section 241 which generates a virtual device of the equipment based upon the equipment information included in the received second message.
