<p>A system and method for a modular work station is described which can provide a highly versatile integrated working environment for offices and homes. The work station combines privacy, security and moveable elements to create different changeable profiles to support personal and diverse uses of the work station. The system comprises several working configurations using different arrangements of working surfaces, data and document storage systems, lighting systems and comprehensive computer and telecommunications elements. A key aspect of the invention is the rigidity of the structural elements and the ease of their movement and juxtaposition relative to each other using low friction joints and strong and lightweight materials coupled with counterbalancing systems. The workstation structure comprises a framework of interconnecting elements to hide cables and air conditioning ducting and to support wall and surface panels of high quality materials thereby enhancing aesthetic appeal to make the work station an inspiring environment.</p> |
