<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device for displaying of high picture quality and wide viewing field angle in both of reflection display and transmission display with respect to a transreflective liquid crystal device using an in-plain switching mode. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is the transreflective liquid crystal device using an in-plain switching mode, wherein an alignment direction 151 of an alignment film disposed on a transmission display region T and an alignment direction 152 of an alignment film disposed on a reflection display region R are different from each other and vertical alignment layers 61, 62 that vertically aligns liquid crystal 51 are disposed so as to superimpose the boundary part of both regions.
