PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element in which external take-out efficiency of emitted light is enhanced, and to provide its fabrication process and an organic EL display employing it. SOLUTION: In the organic EL element having one or a plurality of light emitters on the side face of a tubular transparent body; each of the one or a plurality of light emitters has such a structure as a transparent electrode, an organic EL layer, a reflective electrode, and a protective layer formed sequentially, the transparent electrode is connected with a first terminal electrode located at one end of the light emitter, the reflective electrode is connected with a second terminal electrode located at the other end of the light emitter, an insulating layer is provided on the outer circumferential surface of the second terminal electrode, and the first and second terminal electrodes are formed thicker than the one or a plurality of light emitters.
