<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developer carrier that excels in chargeability and wear resistance, has stable uniform chargeability and conveyance for toner over a long period of time and is capable of forming a high quality image. <P>SOLUTION: The developer carrier includes a substrate, and a covering layer on the substrate. The covering layer contains a resin obtained by reacting a binding resin and a compound expressed by general formula. The binding resin is a phenol resin or polyamide resin.
