PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling structure for an internal combustion engine capable of especially effectively cooling a part near a cylinder head lower surface in cooling structures of open deck type water jackets and a cylinder head gasket used for the cooling structure. SOLUTION: In the cooling structure for the internal combustion engine, a hollow part 22 is formed on a lower surface of a cylinder head 2 near a Siamese part, and a cooling water channel 4 isolated from the water jacket 12 is formed between the hollow part 22 and the cylinder head gasket 3. Openings 32, 34 corresponding to a part near the Siamese part and a downstream side end of the hollow part 22 are formed on the cylinder head gasket 3, cooling water C flowing vertically upward on the Siamese part of the water jacket 12 in the cylinder block 1 is introduced to the cooling water channel 4 from the upstream side opening 32, and cooling water D, E can be made flow under a rectified condition where flow speed is high by returning from the downstream side opening 34 to the water jacket 12.
