The terminal has an integrated switch e.g. integrated services digital network (ISDN)-Chip, which is usable either for an ISDN-4-wired-interface (S 0) or for an ISDN-2-wired-interface. The switch is arranged in such a manner that the identification of the type of the interfaces and a corresponding automatic switching of the operation mode of the switch takes place between the two interfaces.
