PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which improves growth of field crop, plant or seed, simultaneously enhances plant stems and trunks, increases the amount of harvest of field crop and improves control of disease damage caused by plant pathogenic microbe. SOLUTION: A material containingγ-polyglutamic acid (γ-PGA, H isomer) and/or its salt,γ-polyglutamate hydrogel, a fermentation broth containingγ-PGA, its salt and/orγ-polyglutamate hydrogel or their mixture is applied to a field crop, plant or seed or a field for growing a field crop, plant or seed.
