A method and an apparatus for detecting capacitance using time division multi-frequency are provided to minimize an error of detecting capacitance change by accepting the variation of capacitance of a capacitance detection plate as the factor of the variation of an oscillation frequency. A capacitance detection plate(10) senses the variation of capacitance. An oscillator(20) outputs a plurality of time-division oscillation frequencies according to the capacitance of the capacitance detection plate. A frequency counter(30) counts the plural time division frequencies of the oscillator. A comparison calculation unit calculates frequency variation between the count value of the frequency counter and a reference count value, and outputs a sensing signal when the frequency variation is larger than a sensing level.
