A method for recording data of an optical disc recording device is provided to select and record data by alarming generation of an error according to an average error rate of a test record. A method for recording data of an optical disc recording device includes a step of detecting whether a loaded optical disc is a recordable disc(204,206); a step of performing a test recording operation on at least two specific areas when the optical disc is recordable(208); a step of calculating an average error rate by detecting a record error rate of the performed test recording operation(210); a step of displaying a recording error alarming message when the computed average error rate is larger than the pre-set average error rate(212,214); and a step of recording the data on the mounted optical disc when the calculated average error rate is smaller than the pre-set average error rate(216,218).
