A mobile communication terminal and an execution method of an abbreviated function through pattern recognition are provided to enable a user to set a desired hot key for a particular function, while the user can easily input the hot key. A display(110) includes a touch device(112). A controller(140) analyzes input patterns inputted to the touch device(112) to classify the analyzed patterns into function indication patterns and operation indication patterns, executes functions corresponding to the function indication patterns, and enables actions corresponding to the operation indication patterns to be performed. A memory unit(120) stores the function indication patterns and the operation indication patterns.
