A mobile terminal and a method for changing function modes therein are provided to implement various combinations to change function modes by diversely changing function modes according to a relative rotation degree or a relative rotation direction between two bodies. A mobile terminal is comprised of the first body(100), the second body(200), a coupling part(300), and a control part(12). The first body(100) has a display part. The coupling part(300) combines the first body(100) and the second body(200) so that the first body(100) and the second body(200) can be rotated for each other with a certain axis in the center. In this case, the axis penetrates the first body(100) and the second body(200). The control part(12), installed in either the first body(100) or the second body(200), changes function modes in consideration of a relative rotation direction or a relative rotation degree between the first body(100) and the second body(200), and displays a screen equivalent to the changed function mode through the display part.
