PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type image display device that reduces exposure to a laser beam. SOLUTION: The projection type image display device includes a laser light source emitting a laser beam, a light deflection circuit scanning with the laser beam to form an image, and an acceleration detection element, wherein the device has a light reducing means that stops the laser beam according to the acceleration detected by the acceleration detection element and reduces a laser beam flux upon restarting emission of a laser beam.
