PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a resin composition for a toner capable of obtaining the toner having excellent low temperature fixability and high temperature offset resistance, and a superior image quality. SOLUTION: The method for producing the resin composition for the toner includes: a step 1 where branched polyester is charged to a kneading machine incorporating a screw so as to be melted; a step 2 where moisture included in the branched polyester is removed from the opening of the kneading machine incorporating the screw, thus the water content in the branched polyester is controlled to≤0.3 wt.%; and a step 3 where an isocyanate compound is added to the branched polyester whose water content is controlled to≤0.3 wt.%, and their reaction is caused.
