The invention relates to a polyimide resin polymer which contains at least one repeating unit selected from those of formula (A-1) and formula (A-2) below as polymerization units, wherein P₁, P₂, Q₁, and Q₂ are as defined in the specification. The polymer of the invention can be used as an alignment material in liquid crystal displays.
