PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain target engine speed by precisely controlling bypass air quantity during vehicle deceleration travel without a vehicle speed sensor. SOLUTION: In a method controlling intake air quantity for adjusting bypass air quantity under a full close condition of a throttle valve and maintaining predetermined target engine speed by controlling an ISC valve 4 provided in a bypass passage 3 bypassing the throttle valve 5 in an intake passage 2 of a vehicle mounted engine by an electronic control unit 10 detecting throttle valve opening by a throttle valve opening sensor 11, the electronic control unit 10 recognizes a deceleration condition of a vehicle based on data of intake pipe pressure continuously detected by an intake pipe pressure sensor 12, corrects opening of the ISC valve 4 according to the deceleration condition, and avoids abnormal drop of engine speed.
