PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display system with which a backlight unit is replaced at the appropriate times. SOLUTION: The display system 60 is equipped with: the backlight unit 6 installed on the rear side of a liquid crystal display panel 5; a luminance sensor 27 to measure a luminance value of light emitted from the backlight unit 6; and a judging section 52 to judge whether or not the luminance value measured with the luminance sensor 27 is lower than a limit value requiring replacement of the backlight unit 6.
