PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device and power supplying method supplying adequate power to a load from the power supply device even without laying a measuring wire for measuring input voltage of the load. SOLUTION: The power supply device is provided with an input part 11 for inputting the diameter, material and length of a wire connected to the load, a storing part 14 for previously storing a unit resistance value and a load input voltage maximum set value, a current detecting part 17 for measuring a current value of current outputted to the load through the wire, a voltage detecting part 16 for measuring a voltage value of voltage outputted to the load, a calculating part 15 for reading a unit resistance value corresponding to the diameter and material inputted to the inputting part 11 from the storing part 14, calculating wire resistance by multiplying the unit resistance value by the length inputted to the input part 11 and calculating an input voltage value of the load obtained by subtracting the wire resistance from the voltage value measured by the voltage detecting part 16, and a voltage converting part 12 for controlling voltage to be outputted to the load so that the input voltage value is the load input voltage maximum set value.
