PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter that has high positioning accuracy and high reliability. SOLUTION: A ferrule 11 as a holding member has a through hole 10 as a rectangular positioning part along the center axis, with a light transmitting medium 12 installed in this through hole 10. The light transmitting medium 12 is optically connected in one end face with an optical fiber 13 and optically connected in the other end face with a plurality of optical fibers 14, wherein the optical fiber 13 and the optical fibers 14 are optically coupled to each other through the light transmitting medium 12.
