PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting a water level in a once-through boiler, which detects, as an analog value, the accurate water level of water stored in a metal container communicated with a water tube of the once-through boiler, generates steam of excellent quality, and enhances safety. SOLUTION: A water level detecting electrode rod 5 with an insulating film 2 formed on a surface of a water level detecting electrode part 1 is attached to the metal container 4 communicated with an inside of a boiler still body 3, an electrostatic capacitance between the water level detecting electrode part 1 and the container 4 is measured using the insulating film 2 on the surface of the water level detecting electrode part 1 as a dielectric substance, the water level in the container 4 is detected based on the electrostatic capacitance, a correcting water level detecting electrode rod 7 is also provided in parallel in the container 4 to detect a specified water level, to find a difference between the water level detected by the correcting water level detecting electrode rod 7 and the water level detected by measuring the electrostatic capacitance, and the water level detected by measuring the electrostatic capacitance is corrected properly based on the difference.
