PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an existing column reinforcing method and its reinforcing structure enhancing toughness by suppressing the deformation of upper and lower ends of lining steel plates to maintain a concrete restricting effect. SOLUTION: The steel plates 2 are lined to surround an existing column 1 made of reinforced concrete, and reinforcing steel members 3 each comprising a fixed plate 3a and a stiffening plate 3b, are stuck to restrict the peripheries of the upper parts and/or lower parts of the lining steel plates 2 through the fixed plates 3a. Since the upper parts and/or lower parts of the lining steel plates 2 lining the existing column 1 are reinforced by the reinforcing steel members 3, the deformation of the upper and lower ends of the lining steel plates easy to deform in case of an earthquake is suppressed to maintain the effect of restricting the existing column to thereby enhance the toughness of the column.
