PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electric resistance welded tube having excellent weld characteristics, which method sufficiently facilitates discharge of defects, such as an oxide, accompanying discharge of molten metal. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the electric resistance welded tube, a strip 100 is rounded in a width direction by roll-forming while feeding it and both end parts of the rounded width are welded by electric resistance welding to make a tube. In the method, between the time of starting feed of the strip and the time just before the electric resistance welding, only one end in the thickness direction of both end parts in the width direction of the strip is radiused with fin pass forming rolls 6, for example, to form a radius of 20-70% of the thickness of the strip.
