PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method which gives various colors and designabilities to increase the beauty properties without producing any blistering, cracking, etc. to the surface of a footing beam portion of buildings such as a house. SOLUTION: An aqueous top coat material is applied to the surface of the building footing beam portion. The aqueous top coat material contains as a bonding agent a synthetic-resin emulsion (A), in which an acrylate resin derived from methacrylic acid alkyl ester and a silicon resin derived from a cyclic siloxane compound are mixed in an emulsion particle at the weight percent of 99:1-30:70, the steam permeability degree by JIS K5400 8.17 of a formed coating film is 40 g/m<SP>2</SP>×24 H or more, and the permeability by JIS A6909 7.13 is 0.5 ml or less.
