PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve an overload working on a drive motor causing a trouble in the conventional electric vacuum cleaner when a user moves the body of the cleaner rapidly reversing the ongoing direction of running. SOLUTION: The electric vacuum cleaner is provided with an electric blower 2, a dust box unit (dust collection part) 4 for collecting dust, a wheel 6 for running, drive means 24 and 25 for moving the body 1 of the cleaner and a microswitch (operating part) 22 for starting the drive of the drive means 24 and 25. The drive means 24 and 25 are provided with an overload protection mechanism. This eliminates the overload thus far working on the drive means 24 and 25, thereby minimizing a trouble.
