PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent (EL) element having a long emission lifetime, an illuminating unit, and a display unit. SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent (EL) element comprises an anode, a cathode, and a light-emitting layer that is interposed between the anode and the cathode and contains two types of compounds having different chemical structures.
