A Streptomyces padanus CBU01 strain is provided to inhibit growth and spore germination of plant pathogenic bacteria including Phytophthora capsici, Collectotrichum acutatum, Monilinia spp., Magnaporthe grisea, Rhizoctonia spp., Fusarium solani, Fusarium oxysporum and Alternaria spp. without environmental pollution, so that plant diseases are controlled in an environment-friendly manner. A Streptomyces padanus CBU01(KACC 91321P) strain shows antimicrobial activity against Phytophthora capsici and Colletotrichum acutatum. A composition for controlling plant diseases comprises Streptomyces padanus CBU01(KACC 91321P) or its cultured medium, and further comprises a crop protecting agent, an organic fertilizer and a mixture thereof. The plan diseases are controlled by treating the soil or leaves of plants with the composition for controlling plant diseases.
