The light or lamp (1) has a frame element (2) and at least one medium, which is at least partly transparent to light, on the side from which the lamp will be looked at. Several individual light sources (4) are provided behind the medium. These lie in at least one plane and voltage is applied to the light sources individually and in groups by means of a control unit.
