BLUE PHOSPHORS FOR PLASMA DISPLAY PANNEL AND PLASMA DISPLAY PANNEL EMPOLYING THE BLUE PHOSPHORS LAYER

A blue phosphor for a plasma display panel(PDP), a method for preparing a PDP by using the phosphor, and a PDP prepared by the method are provided to maintain the performance of a panel by improving the brightness, luminous characteristics and lifetime of the phosphor. A blue phosphor for a PDP is prepared by mixing the phosphor represented by (Ba_(1-x-y)) D_x MgAl10O17:Eu_y and the phosphor represented by CaMgSi2O6:Eu, wherein D is Sr or Ca; 0.001<=x<=1.0; and 0.01<=y<=0.5. Preferably the mixing ratio of the two phosphors is 1-10 : 1-10; the blue phosphor has a metal oxide coating layer comprising aluminum oxide (Al2O3) on the surface; and the blue phosphor has an average diameter of 0.1-2 micrometers.
