An airbag is provided to improve performance of the airbag by controlling the volume of gas evacuation from a cushion in accordance with the condition of vehicle collision and position and type of an occupant. An airbag includes an airbag housing(10), a cushion(20), a retainer(30), an inflater(40), and a cushion gas evacuation unit. The cushion folded in the airbag housing. The retainer fastens the cushion onto the airbag housing. The inflater is inserted into the cushion, and provides pressure for deployment of the cushion. The cushion gas evacuation unit evacuates gas from the cushion in accordance with the pressure in the cushion.
