A reinforcing bar coupler is provided to couple two reinforcing bars strongly and simply and to prevent the separation of reinforcing bars from male and female fastening members by coupling ratchet hanging projections formed on connecting ends of first and second reinforcing bars with coupling projections of a cutting ring and a split ring strongly. A reinforcing bar coupler is used for coupling two reinforcing bars by fixing a cutting ring(50) into a connecting end portion(11) of a first reinforcing bar(10) having many first ratchet hanging projections(12) through a fitting hole(32) of a male fastening member(30) to make coupling projections of the cutting ring coupled with the ratchet hanging projections and to make the cutting ring adhered closely to the inner circumferential surface of the male fastening member and suspended on a hanging projection(33) of the male fastening member to keep the connecting end of the first reinforcing bar not to be separated from the male fastening member when the connecting end of the first reinforcing bar is fixed into the male fastening member and pulled in the direction of the arrow, fastening female threads(43) to male threads(33) of the male fastening member loosely, coupling a split ring(60) to a connecting end(21) of a second reinforcing bar(20) using an elastic band(67) and making coupling projections(61) of the split ring coupled with second ratchet hanging projections(22) formed on the connecting end of the second reinforcing bar, fixing the connecting end of the second reinforcing bar coupled with the split ring into a fitting hole(42) of a female fastening member(40) and making coupling projections of the split ring coupled with second ratchet hanging projections of the connecting end of the second reinforcing bar, and tightening the male fastening member and the female fastening member to make the split ring suspended on a hanging projection(41) of the female fastening member to keep the connecting end of the second reinforcing bar with the coupling projections of the split ring at the second ratchet hanging projections not to be separated from the female fastening member.
