The invention relates to a method for combining or splitting the beam paths of substantially nonpolarized light having at least three different wavelength intervals. According to said method, the beam path of the light having the wavelength interval that lies between the other wavelength intervals is split or combined when the beam paths of the light having the two other wavelength intervals have already been or are still combined. The invention further relates to an illumination unit which comprises a white light source and utilizes said method by means of an interference filter to split the white light into red, blue, and green light beams. Also disclosed is an illumination unit which encompasses a red, green, and blue light source and utilizes the inventive method by means of an interference filter to combine the beam paths of the light sources. |
