<p>A flatbed knitting machine has a needle bed with longitudinally sliding needles (7) each separated from the next by a lifting hook (1) plate. The plate motion is regulated by retain/release slide locks (85, 86, 87). Each plate (1) engages with a spring (2) via a lock. The force exerted by the spring varies in accordance with the direction taken by the plate (1). The plate position is infinitely variable in either direction. When holding down a coarse mesh, the plate stays longer at its lowest point. When holding down a fine mesh, the tension exerted by the short mesh shanks pulls the plate upwards against the spring force.</p> |
