A magnetic head is composed of a write head (38) which magnetically records information by emitting magnetic flux, which is generated by a write coil (54), from a magnetic pole unit (50, 52) to a recording medium (14); and a read head (36) having a reading element which converts record magnetic flux, emitted from the recording medium (14), to an electrical signal. In an area facing a thin-film coil pattern of the write coil (54), a heater coil (60), which causes a medium facing surface to protrude toward the recording medium (14) by thermal expansion caused by power distribution and overheating, is disposed via an insulating layer. In the heater coil (60), a wide terminal pattern (66-1, 66-2) is disposed outside the write coil facing area, and a heater pattern having a width narrower than the terminal pattern is disposed in the area facing the write coil (54).
|
