A system and a method for managing device driver files with the network are provided to offer the optimal device driver files to a user when the user installs an OS(Operating System) to a PC or changes a hardware device by enabling a service company to search hardware information of the PC automatically through the network. An automatic search program(30) collects device driver files of a plurality of hardware systems set in a user PC(10) in real-time, search the latest driver automatically, and updates the device driver files. A database stores/manages credit information of a user and the device driver files of the hardware systems set in the user PC. An authentication server(60) authenticates the user wanting to download the device driver files by receiving a password. A control server(50) extracts the device driver file requested from the authenticated user from the database, and transmits the extracted files to the user PC. The control server searches a registry of the user PC by using an ActiveX(20) installed in the user PC, searches the device driver files and related file data from a hardware maker server(70) or a search site linked with the device driver file, and transmits the searched data to the database. |
