A terpolymer, a method for preparing the terpolymer, a composition comprising the terpolymer, a free-flowing additive, and a method for improving cold properties of fuel oil are provided to improve a handling property and a performance property of the terpolymer as a cold additive for fuel oil. A terpolymer of ethylene, at least one ethylene-based unsaturated ester, and propene comprises 12.0-16.0 mol% of structural units derived from at least one ethylene-based unsaturated ester, 1.0-4.0 methyl groups derived from propene per 100 aliphatic carbon atoms, and less than 6.5 methyl groups derived from chain ends per 100 CH2 groups. The ethylene-based unsaturated ester is vinyl ester of a carboxylic acid having 2-12 carbon atoms. |
