The system (1) has a drive device (5) driving an electrical machine (2), and a conveyor (3) conveying a coolant stream (20), which is provided for cooling the electrical machine. Another drive device (6) drives the conveyor in an operating region. A controllable coupling device controllably couples the drive device (5) with the conveyor for driving the conveyor in another operating region. The electrical machine, the conveyor, the coupling device and the drive device (6) are arranged for flow of the stream for cooling purposes in a housing (14) with an inlet and an outlet for the stream.
