<p>The door or window has a surround frame (11) and a casement frame (12) which can be opened and closed through a guide frame (13) with swivel bridge (24) and guide (28). The swivel bridge is mounted on the surround frame and guide frame so that the vertical spacing (16) from the frame can be produced by swivelling the bridge whereby the guide determines the direction of movement of the casement frame to the surround frame. A drive with pinions (21, 22) and toothed rack (23) can control the swivel movement. A guide roller (29) on the casement frame can move in a guide (28) vertically mounted on the surround frame in order to lift the casement frame.</p>
