A navigation apparatus and method is provided to notify a driver of required road information at a navigation point, without interfering with driver safety. A navigation point searching unit(340) searches whether a road information notifying point is provided on a road on which a vehicle travels. An output position determining unit(350) variably determines a position for outputting road guidance information to the searched navigation point at traveling speed of a vehicle. An information output unit outputs road guidance information to the navigation point when the vehicle reaches the output position. The navigation point searching unit utilizes a present position of the vehicle, and node information and link information stored in a storage unit(320). |
