Articles are coated by immersing them, after pre-heating, in a fluidized bed of pulverized plastic. The coating may be of polyethylene, polystyrene or a polyamide, the base may be of Fe, steel, Cu, Zn, Sn or an alloy thereof, and pre-heating may be at 150 DEG -300 DEG C. The articles may be pretreated by sandblasting or treatment with fat solvents and after-treated, to smooth the coating, in a gas flame or by over-heating at 120 DEG -140 DEG C. They may be kept in motion whilst in the plastic and may be immersed therein more than once. The plastic may be kept in a fluidized state in a container by blowing a current of air or nitrogen through a porous ceramic false bottom. |
