A detent apparatus for sensing a neutral position of a manual transmission are provided to sense easily a neutral position by using a height difference of a detent groove part. A housing(52) is fixed to a transmission. One side of a detent rod(54) is inserted elastically into the housing. The other end of the detent rod is disposed at a detent part which is formed in a control shaft of the transmission. A detent ball(56) is installed at the other side of the detent rod and is coupled with the detent part in order to provide a sense of manipulation in a rotating state of the control shaft. A neutral switch(58) is installed at an inner wall of the housing facing one side of the detent rod. A neutral rod(60) is installed between one side of the detent rod and the neutral switch in order to turn on/off the neutral switch according to height change of the detent ball.
