<p>The invention relates to a hard metal body, produced by sintering under vacuum, made from carbides, alternatively carbides with nitrides and/or carbonitrides and a binder metal or matrix metal with at least parts of the surface regions having a increased material toughness, in particular, indexable inserts for the cutting machining of steel. According to the invention, an increased cost-effectiveness in production and a property improvement for the hard metal body under heavy load may be achieved, whereby the binder metal or matrix metal comprises an iron component preferably less than 50 wt. %.</p> |
