A floating power plant is provided to obtain energy from low head water sources even without a dam or artificial lake. A floating power plant includes a floating platform(20), at least one impact hydraulic turbine(30), and at least one tapered pipe(10). The floating platform is arranged to float on water, and includes a deck. The turbine is set on the floating platform. The tapered pipe is mounted on the floating platform, and has an inlet(15) and an outlet(18). The inlet is submersible, and has a relatively larger cross section. The outlet has a relatively smaller cross section. The tapered pipe is mounted on the floating platform so as to receive a part of stream flowing beneath the surface of water remaining in the inlet, such that the tapered pipe accelerates stream in the tapered pipe at the speed bigger than the speed at the inlet. The accelerated stream is injected from the outlet of the tapered pipe on the surface of water, and collided against the impact hydraulic turbine. The used water returns to water. |
