A method for storing ice in a reservoir is provided to thicken an ice layer for preventing evaporation of water to secure the volume of water and for maintaining a cool temperature of water to maintain freshness of water. Water pumping machines(300) are installed to pump up water of a reservoir(100). An ice layer(200) is formed on a water surface of the reservoir and the water pumping machines are operated to pump up water under the ice layer above the ice layer. Water is sprayed to the ice layer and the sprayed water is frozen by natural cold air. Operation of the water pumping machines is controlled in accordance with weather to thicken the ice layer continuously.
