A steering wheel comprises a core member "b" having a boss portion 3, a spoke portion 2 and a rim portion 1, where the spoke portion stretches between the boss portion and the rim portion. A polyurethane member "a" covers at least the rim portion of the core member, where the polyurethane member has a specific gravity of 0.7 to 0.9 and a Shore A hardness of 45 to 60. A steering wheel proper, defined as being a combination of the core member and the polyurethane member, has a weight of 1.0 to 2.5 kg. This steering wheel is designed to satisfy both requirements of weight reduction and maintenance of moment of inertia necessary for a steering wheel. In a further aspect, a process for producing a steering wheel is also disclosed which involves conducting an injection moulding by injecting a mixture of a polyisocyanate component and a polyol component that contains a polyol, a foaming agent and 3-5 wt% of a crosslinking agent. |
