A digital Up-Converter (DUC) 310 and a digital Down-Converter (DDC) 350 are usable in a radio communications system for transmitting and receiving digital base-band signals. The DUC comprises an up-converter to up-convert an incoming digital base band signal into a digital band-pass signal. The DDC comprises a down-converter to down-convert at least one incoming digital band-pass signal into a digital base-band signal. The digital base band signal comprises an in phase component (I-signal) and a quadrature component (Q-signal). A digital transceiver may comprise at least one DUC and at least one DDC. A DUC may comprise at least two SerDes decoder and buffer stages 312,313, at least two over sampling units 314,315, at least two systolic sigma-delta low-pass modulators 316,317 and at least one quadrature modulation unit 340. A DDC may comprise at least one quadrature modulation unit 360, at least two decimator units 356,357, at least two sub-sampling units 354,355 and at least two SerDes decoder and buffer stages 352,353. |
